Born in Edinburgh, Emma completed two seasons as a Scottish Opera Emerging Artist and was a Jerwood Young Artist with Glyndebourne. She graduated with distinction from the Opera Course at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2015.

During her time with Scottish Opera, Emma performed the roles of Frau Grubach/Washerwoman The Trial Philip Glass, Dorabella Cosi fan tutte, 2nd Wood Nymph Rusalka. She covered the title role in Ariodante and Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, performing both these roles in the 'Opera Unwrapped' productions. Further Scottish Opera engagements include Stewardess (cover) Flight, an Opera Highlights Tour, Peep-bo The Mikado and Carmen in a ‘A little bit of Carmen’. 

Last year she performed the role of Flora Bervoix in La Traviata, as well as Le Prince Charmant  (cover) in Cendrillon, for Glyndebourne Tour. She returned to Glyndebourne Festival this year as Siren in Rinaldo and 2nd Wood Nymph (cover) Rusalka, having previously performed the role of Shepherd in L'enfant et les sortilèges and Mercédès (cover) in Carmen.

 

She made her ENO debut as Shadow Marnie 3 in the world premiere of Nico Muhly's Marnie and returned to the company for Cherubino (cover) Le nozze di Figaro. Further operatic experience includes Chair/Cat/Squirrel L'enfant et les sortilèges in the Barbican Hall and Ninetta The Little Green Swallow (Dove) British Youth Opera. At GSMD, she performed the roles of Prue in the world stage premiere of The Dancing Master Malcolm Arnold, Cristina I pazzi per progetto Donizzeti (UK premiere) and Veruna The Cunning Peasant Dvorak. She is delighted to have created the role of Nurse Annie Drummond for Iain Burnside's Unknown Doors at the Barbican Pit Theatre. 

Emma was awarded the Audience Prize in the Peter Hulsen Orchestral Song Award and is delighted to have reached the final rounds of the 55th Francisco Viñas International Singing Contest in Barcelona. She is proud to be a Samling Scholar.
